Description:
The IMP-IMBA Research Center offers a two to four year post-doctoral fellowship at one of the premier research sites in Europe. The institute is funded by Boehringer Ingelheim and the Austrian Academy of Science. 22 independent research groups conduct curiosity-driven basic research spanning a broad range of topics, including computational and structural biology, cell and developmental biology, epigenetics, neurobiology, immunology, and disease mechanisms. Our common goal is to uncover fundamental molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie complex biological phenomena. The strong scientific environment and outstanding equipment resources at the IMP-IMBA make this a unique opportunity for an outstanding scientist.
The position is open to Ph.D.‘s in mass spectrometry, analytical chemistry, proteomics, or any other related chemical or biochemical discipline with at least one first author publication in press or published in an international peer reviewed journal. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team using and developing mass spectrometric methods to study proteins and protein complexes by mass spectrometry. Possible research areas include top-down and bottom-up protein structural analysis, post-translational modification identification, mapping of protein surfaces and protein-ligand interaction sites and development of novel bioanalytical methods. The laboratory is equipped with several state-of-the-art mass spectrometers including two LTQ-Orbitrap Velos instruments.
We are searching for a motivated scientist with a solid hands-on expertise in biological mass spectrometry and on-line coupled micro-scale liquid chromatography. Additional desirable skills include experience with protein biochemistry and an understanding of bioinformatics.
We offer an innovative, team oriented, and highly motivated working atmosphere in an international renowned research institute.
