Project description: The postdoctoral position involves genetic studies of development and progression of brain tumors in children. We seek someone who has good knowledge in bioinformatics and genomics as well as experience in analyzing data from gene expression and genomic sequencing studies. Further experience in cloning and different types ofPCR analysis is highly desired. Additional teaching or administrative services at the department may be included in the postdoctoral position. Starting date is February, 2013 for a period of 2 years. The salary offered is based on departmental guidelines and determined by available funding. Qualifications: The applicant should have a PhD in bioinformatics, molecular biology/biotechnology or genetics preferably combined with experience in cancer biology, neurosciences or similar. We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious scientist that can work independently and manage projects but we also seek a person that can interact well with team members and partners. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English are required. The applicants PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application date.

Employer: The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University (http://www.igp.uu.se) has a broad research profile with several strong research groups focused on Cancer, Diabetes and Molecular Diagnostics. Research is presently conducted in the following areas: Medical and Clinical Genetics, Immunology, Pathology, Tumor Biology and Vascular Biology. Parts of the organization are also integrated with the departments for Clinical Genetics, Immunology and Pathology-Cythology at Akademiska sjukhuset, Uppsala. The Rudbeck Laboratory provides a well-developed infrastructure for advanced molecular sciences, including access to front-line technology as well as core facilities for cell analyses, DNA sequencing and genotyping.
